"... when our love was new, and our hearts were high.
When the day was young, and the nights were long,
and the moon stood still for the night bird's song."

Image Description:

Digital paint, Photoshop CS. In my opinion this is my first real painting, that is not just a study and not relying on photo textures etc.

Made the floral reference photographs myself, the model photo of ~VoodooBiatch used with her very generous permission. You can find some of her modeling stock in Beauty Package 2 at =resurgere, some of my floral stock is also available there.

You can view a step by step production walkthrough of this painting at my sketchbook, which is featured at Creativestem at the moment.

And you can view close up details snippets in my dA scrapbook along with a much more detailed description.

Full viewing is recommend to see the details as ever. Your critiques and feedback are always welcome and if you had painting advice for me that would help a lot. Thank you for looking and for your support!

I was stunned to find out that this painting wasn't a photographic manipulation at all!
The details are amazing and throughout the concept look so realistic. The symbolism is beautiful, as are the colors in this lovely painting.
And god, I fell in love for this girls beautiful eyes and expression!

There are some slight things I would have done different in `wroth's place, like darken or remove the flower edges at the dark parts. (If that makes any sence, at all.) And personally I would have choosen slightly less drops, so it would look even more realistic, since it is drawn 'out of space'.
But that is just my personal point of view.

Anyway, The Night Bird's Song by `wroth is a true pleasure to the eye and a image you won't forget quick! :)

It's impossible not to be drawn if not thrown for a loop by what level of impact this image has to offer. From the work-in-progress so long ago, I had no idea that your direction would lead to thus. The seamless amalgamation of corporeal and surrealistic elements is a refreshing take, surely drawing from the highly emotive "abstraction" from your photographic work to achieve, arguably, an unprecedented jewel in your portfolio. There's a certain depth and texture to this that defines digital painting.

I for one have no qualms with the composition... in fact I feel you've achieved a perfect balance. Her eyes carry so much weight, mirroring the essence of her surroundings, that any alteration were made, the scale would surely be tipped and all would likely be lost.

It's been quite the experience... viewing this. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us, Shawn
