Instrumental Learning by wroth Instrumental Learning by wroth
(updated october 21th 2007)

------ ------ ------ ------ ------

Image Description:
Older work that I am updating, naming, and moving out of scrapbook.

I am seriously reluctant to even attempt writing about this piece, it would take more time then it is worth to explain fully. It is most expedient to say nothing, but next most expedient I could say that it is a four image composite of the same setting before and after actions where taken at that setting. The photography as well as the process of compositing bring their own influence to the work, and to the concepts I tried to make irrefutably present. But your knowledge of that concept is not required to enjoy the piece, the work is esoteric on the conceptual level, but should be assessable to anyone on other levels.

This reminds me of when I was a child, and standing on the spot, would turn around and 'round spinning and spinning and spinning over and over again looking at everything around me become like this, until I made myself so dizzy. :)

I love this!

Into the winter of desolate solitude comes the slow, certain ripple of love.

[nods] It's very painterly most people seem to think, and I agree. And I like that because it means I can use the actual flesh of the image to support the wider composition. Photography is a poorer media for not having brush strokes, and it's hard to fill the gap that's left there.

Cool man, thanks a lot. It's always great to get your feedback. I self-consciously feel like I'm out on a limb sometimes, and so it is helpfully reassuring to hear someone with good judgment say where I am is not a bad place to be.
